4 step detailed study plan:

1. Acclimatise - 5 minutes.

In trekking once you reach the base camp what you do?

You start spending some time to overview the giant mountain standing in front of you, right. The same way while starting to read, proceed your first 5 minutes in spending an overall view of your chapter. Go through the quick summary, read main points, don’t skip the introduction. Try to define the chapter in one or two words.

Must know your questions...

You should be aware of what questions would be expected in exams. When your teacher taught you a lesson, they had told you important questions and concepts that would be expected in the exam. Go through important book back practice questions. Star the very important questions and analyse past years question papers, to familiarise yourself what you are going to learn.

You should quickly recap what you studied earlier with a full concentration. After your 10 minutes give yourself a treat…. a 2 minutes break. Relax yourself..

3. Prepare for the altitude - Your next 25 minutes...

You need to maintain your entire concentration for the next 25 minutes. Break your content. This is very important to break content into smaller units and sub-topics. You should tackle toughest concepts at this time, how?

Focus and read:

Go through the tough concepts detailly once. Underline only the keywords. If you already done this in your previous revisions, it will be useful for your quick understanding. Take time until you understand the topic.

Make each sub-topics a question:

Write questions above each sub-topics in your textbook. Ask questions to yourselves. Try to understand your questions and then answer in a simple way. This is the reflection of what you have read.

Make it easy for you:

You can use your hand-written notes for your quick understanding. Using your hand-written notes can help you to revise your topics in no time. Not to borrow from others. If you had borrowed, make your own customisations in it.

Your notes should be:
  • In bulleted points,
  • Mind maps to remember topics in a easy way,
  • Make use of rough diagrams,
  • Plot your own graphs or pie charts,
  • Make use of flash cards,

You did it! Before entering our fourth step, celebrate yourself. Take a deep breath, relax yourselves for the next 3 minutes.
