5 Ways you can spot a lie.

We all lie (and are lied to). Of course, the degree varies but we all are guilty of lying sometimes. Be it between friends, family, relatives, no one wants to be caught telling a lie. And what makes it most interesting is that psychologists say it is extremely difficult for a person to admit to lying. But a person cannot always get away with a lie and here is a quick guide on spotting a liar. Go ahead and catch them.

1.Focus on their voice changes.

When a person is lying, he normally uses a higher voice pitch than a person who is not. This is clearly not a sure sign, but can be a good indicator of someone lying to you.

2.Lines in written note.

Ever thought if it is possible to spot lies in a written note? According to Professor David Skillicorn, Queen’s University, Canada, who developed a deception tracking software with his students, it is important to identify the frequency and type of words used. For example, but, and, or, less, often, and words like embarrassed more, may not telling you the complete truth.

3.Body language.

Communication is not entirely verbal, but non-verbal as well. When someone is lying, he will try to focus all his energies into the lie and may use lesser gestures and movements than normal. Liars will mostly have a still body than those telling the truth.

4.Probe them quickly.

If you want to catch someone deceiving you, use this trick of asking questions quickly. Throw one question after another to trip him up. Lies are easy in the initial stage, but the follow-up is tough. Putting liars in a spot normally makes it harder for them to keep up with the lie.

5.Notice the eyes.

It is commonly believed that shifting eyes and staying unfocused while telling a lie is a big giveaway, so liars will on purpose look straight into your eye. So, don’t think that anyone looking straight into eyes cannot lie.
